Krista Helman, MSW
Registered Social Worker
Welcome! I’m Krista Helman, a trauma and grief therapist, author, and founder of the Trauma & Grief Institute (TGI). My work centres on creating supportive, compassionate spaces for those navigating trauma and loss, whether through therapy, workshops, or community retreats. With experience and certifications in EMDR and the Safe & Sound Protocol, I specialize in guiding individuals toward resilience through evidence-based and holistic practices.

I'm the author of Over the Rainbow: The Love, Loss, & Legacy of Your Dog, a heartfelt guide for those grieving the loss of a pet, and Self-Care Moments: A Workbook to Navigate Your Grief, designed to help individuals connect with their emotions and find relief through self-care practices. These books extend the compassionate support I offer at TGI, making tools for healing and reflection accessible to a broader audience.

I developed a specialized approach for grief therapy called EMDR-GRIEF, which combines my expertise with evidence-based EMDR protocols. EMDR-GRIEF is designed to support the natural process of grief, helping clients navigate roadblocks like trauma and attachment injuries that can complicate healing. This method not only expedites the grief journey but also respects and incorporates the documented phenomenon of After-Death Communication. By honouring the meaningful connections that remain with loved ones even after loss, we can access the growth that our grief has to offer. Through EMDR-GRIEF, I strive to provide a path toward a renewed sense of connection and inner peace.
At TGI, I lead a team of dedicated therapists who share my commitment to growth, authenticity, balance, integrity, and empowerment. We offer a range of services, including therapy, workshops, retreats, and professional development. Our approach integrates mind-body practices that promote whole-person healing, and help clients move forward with resilience.
When I’m not at TGI, you can find me enjoying mindfulness, yoga, or time in nature—all practices that keep me grounded in my work and personally inspired. I believe healing is a journey best traveled with others, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
Krista would be pleased to receive your invitations to share about her books on your social media, television, and radio.
